Conneticut weddings header

Just found out that a few flower detail images are now being used on the header for Connecticut weddings by the knot website. That's kind of cool :)

Oh-10

So it's 2010 and therefor its officially the future or at lest that's what I thought back in elementary school. Today I wrote my first check of the new year messing up by first writing an 0 out of habit then realizing my mistake tried to squeeze in a 2 before it and a 10 after in an attempt to conceal my mistake. As I was doing my idiot cover up I was thinking "can this really be 2010?" Is this THE future? Why am I writing a check with a pen on paper and sending via the post office? Weren't we promised more then this?
As I pondered all these questions I thought back to my younger years and the daydreaming I did as a kid about what what life would be like in the year 2010. For some reason in my head, 2010 was a land mark year when I thought the world would be super advanced. I thought that every home would be outfitted with computers that talked to you and did your household chores . I thought about this stuff a lot as a child. I'm not sure if that's strange to really be interested in that stuff at that age but that was me.
For sure at that time I thought 33 was old man age. I would have gray hair and live in a warmer climate , have a custom designed 60 floor mansion with a Ferrari Testarossa parked in the driveway. I wasn't one of those kids that thought we would have a mass produced flying car by this point but a hoverboard was more then possible. My kids at this moment would be outside playing with them as my dog Spike and my wife Elizabeth watched on.
So what has happened to the future that I thought was going to happen? Did our "Carousel of progress" get jammed on something ? I'm not sure really ? This is a very different 2010 then the one I had in my head at that time. Now lets also add that I thought Id also be the center fielder for the Yankees at by this time so I had some high expectations.
This 2010 isn't all bad there is a ton of stuff I never even dreamed up. The internet, email, mp3 players, online gaming and anything sold by apple. Really who thought you would ever be able to have something like an ipod ? The thing records/plays movies, has an FM tuner and can even help you get into shape all in the palm of your hand??? What ?? Now that is futuristic !!!
So we never got the hoverboard but then again I never have to look in a card catalog ever again. So that's good... I can always hang that over my kids heads at some point as well. I'll use the old "back in my day when I had to look something up I had to leave my house and go to a library, Yes a public library! I would look through a card catalog , to find a book that I hoped contained that answer to what I was looking for!!!!" I'll add that I had to walk to the library in 3 feet of snow to make it sound even worse. :)

Well, I wish you all the best in 2010 and well beyond. I'll write another post like this in 2020 from my floating car on the 48th floor of my mansion.
